Ricardo Peiró, founder of Dynikos Energy Strategy

Ricardo Peiró

I work with companies seeking to develop new business opportunities, enter new markets or bring projects forward. I assess each opportunity, determine what it takes to move it forward, and connect the right companies, people and capabilities to turn it into a viable project.

MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

I am an industrial engineer and my career in the electricity sector has been shaped by two complementary perspectives: the power system and the companies involved in promoting, developing, constructing and operating power generation facilities.

I began my career at Red Eléctrica de España, the Spanish Transmission System Operator (TSO), where I worked on power system planning, international interconnection projects and working groups with other European TSOs. This experience gave me an inside view of how the power system works, from planning and development through to operation.

I later moved into power generation, working on project origination and development, as well as identifying business opportunities and establishing business partnerships. My work included assessing technical, environmental, planning and grid-access feasibility, and coordinating the regulatory, administrative, legal and contractual aspects needed to advance projects, establish agreements and obtain the permits, licences and authorisations required for construction.

My work has involved several technologies, including solar PV, wind, energy storage and hydrogen. I have also been involved in business development and in defining strategies to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

This combination of experience gives me an understanding of both the power system, its operational constraints and the challenges companies face in the electricity sector. My MBA training complements this experience with a business and strategic perspective, helping me assess opportunities, understand business models and identify ways to create and capture value.

Today, through Dynikos Energy Strategy, I apply this experience to the origination and development of business opportunities and projects. I act as a facilitator and integrator, identifying each opportunity’s potential, connecting the right stakeholders, and bringing together the capabilities, relationships and agreements needed to move it forward and turn it into a concrete business initiative.

My work focuses primarily on the intersection of energy, technology and infrastructure, including opportunities linked to the circular economy. With an international outlook and a focus on LATAM, I work to connect companies, markets and capabilities and help develop new business opportunities.

ENGINEERING AND INDUSTRY

Early Professional Experience in Industry

Grupo Dulcesol · Vossloh

I began my career in industrial environments. At Grupo Dulcesol, I worked on activities related to electrical systems maintenance and the food production line. At Vossloh, I contributed to the design of electrical schematics for light rail vehicles and locomotives, wiring integration, and the coordination of work related to electrical design.

02

POWER SYSTEM

TSO Perspective

Red Eléctrica de España

My work focused on power system planning, analysing generation needs across the Spanish and European systems, demand forecast and renewable energy integration. My experience included the CBA assessment of international electricity interconnection projects, electricity market studies and market integration, as well as work related to the European TYNDP and collaboration in working groups with other European TSOs.

POWER GENERATION AND PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Power Generation and Project Development

Grupo Zaragoza · Smartenergy · BayWa r.e.

My experience in power generation focused on the origination and development of renewable energy projects and new energy solutions, from identifying business opportunities to defining the conditions required to make them viable and move them forward.

My work covered the assessment of technical, economic, environmental, urban-planning and grid-access feasibility, as well as the technical and administrative development of projects. This involved coordinating regulatory, administrative, legal and contractual matters, and managing the procedures required to progress project applications and obtain the permits, licences and authorisations needed for construction.

Alongside this, I worked on business development activities aimed at identifying new business opportunities, exploring potential development pathways and building relationships with relevant industry stakeholders. A key part of this work involved bringing interests and capabilities together, fostering strategic alliances, and building relationships with potential partners and collaborators to advance new initiatives and broaden the company’s business opportunities.

This also involved engaging and negotiating with the parties concerned, defining collaboration terms, and structuring commercial and contractual agreements to give shape to identified opportunities and facilitate their development.
